Hi! I’m Duru, originally from Turkey, but I called Heidelberg home for nearly ten years before starting my Bachelors. Currently, I’m in my final year of my Bachelor’s degree in Digital Society at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. I’m thrilled to return to Heidelberg and excited to join the Tink Tank team as a working student! There is nothing I love more than reading a book by the beach.
Tink Tank: What inspired you to start working at Tink Tank, and what has been your experience so far?
It was actually my sister who came across the job opportunity and thought I would be a good fit, and when I read the description, I was intrigued! After talking with Lone, Priscilla, and Poornima about the company and their expectations from me, I realized that its values perfectly aligned with what I was seeking and that I would be a perfect match.
I cherish an environment that values creativity while maintaining productivity, and this is something Tink Tank provides!
Tink Tank: What do you like the most about Tink Tank?
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the team so far! Everyone has been incredibly friendly, making it such a welcoming environment. I’m truly excited to contribute to the team. Moreover, I’m looking forward to the opportunities for growth and the knowledge this job will offer me.
Tink Tank: What inspired you to pursue your current career path, and how has it evolved over time?
I’ve always been interested in journalism and communication, often spending hours watching Vice videos to stay updated on global events. However, I was uncertain whether to pursue journalism or something in the realm of PR/social media, but my perspective shifted in 2020 when I discovered Formula 1. An employee from the F1 PR department appeared on my YouTube feed, sharing her experiences while working for the sport, which deeply inspired me. It was then that I resolved to pursue a career in Communications.
Since then, I have embarked on a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Society, which provided me with a broad perspective on Communications and enhanced my understanding of technology. It was during this Bachelors that I started my own blog, which is something I deeply enjoyed doing. Additionally, I’ve since then taken the time to learn more about SEO and Communications to further enrich my knowledge.
Tink Tank: What advice would you give to someone who is starting out in your industry?
Do courses on Coursera or HubSpot to learn more about Communications! Also, connect with others on LinkedIn that have already made a “name” for themselves in the field and ask them about their experiences & any questions you might have!
Tink Tank: Are there any movies you wish you could see again for the first time?
There are so many! To list a few: all the Harry Potter movies, Inception, The Devil all The Time, Your Name & the first Twilight movie.
Tink Tank: Finally, a very important question: if you were a loaf of bread, which one would you be and why?
A Simit! It’s similar to a bagel, and is commonly found in Turkey. I always crave it when I go back to my home country.
