Boosting Work-Life with Company Membership: Omar’s Story

Omar Hammouda, a valued coworker, shared his experience of using the company membership model at Tink Tank. He discussed his personal journey of transitioning from remote work to coworking. After working remotely for an extended period, Omar found himself missing the collaborative energy of an office. When a week of home repairs disrupted his usual routine, he discovered Tink Tank. What started as a temporary solution quickly evolved into a dynamic workspace where he and his team could enjoy a professional environment. His story highlights the unique benefits that Tink Tank offers to those seeking flexibility, community, and inspiration.

Tink Tank: What challenges did you face while working from home, and how did remote work affect your productivity?

As most projects are remote since the pandemic, I had spent most of my time working from home. It has its perks but on the long-term I found myself not going out as much, and one tends to work even longer as the workstation is always within eye-sight. For me I found it boring and de-motivating. I am the kind of person who likes to go to the office and network, socialize, exchange ideas and collaborate in person with my colleagues.

Tink Tank: How did you get to know about Tink Tank?

So it all started when there were heavy repairs ongoing in the building over an entire week, making it quite hard to work. So, I went to the office one day, as our German office is more than an hour away, I realized it would be time-consuming (and expensive) to commute there frequently, especially if I do not have to. So, looking for alternatives I found out about co-working spaces, and luckily found ‘Tink Tank’, where it was extremely easy to test it out just by walking in, without any bookings, account set-up or complicated procedures.

Tink Tank: How did your perception of coworking spaces change after joining Tink Tank? What surprised you the most?

I expected co-working spaces to be like working in a Library or specialized café, but with some social aspects to it. But it exceeded my expectations, the space is quiet yet alive, the fellow co-workers are all polite and respectful, the Tink Tank is fully equipped for all your possible needs (telephone booths, meeting rooms, office equipment, Drinks and Snacks, etc..) but also there is a sense of community. Although, you are surrounded by strangers (at first) working for other companies, slowly you start seeing them as colleague-like. This is of course further boosted by the social events held at Tink Tank.

Tink Tank: Do you see Tink Tank becoming an even larger part of your work-life balance?

Joining the Tink Tank has really improved on my work-life, as it has introduced some sort of change to a monotone work week. I do not go as often (yet), but I now rotate between Home-office, Co-working space and our actual office.

Tink Tank: How has bringing your colleagues to Tink Tank impacted your collaboration and overall team dynamics?

As I was able to showcase to my employer the financial and time-benefits of joining Tink Tank in my city (as compared to frequent commutes to the office), I was able to attract fellow colleagues living in my same city to visit Tink Tank. While before we only met in person at work events, now we meet as a group of colleagues more often in the co-working space, and thus fostering collaborations and ideas exchange, in addition to a refreshed feeing of working in a dynamic lively environment. Also important, the social aspects of joining a co-working space, which provide ample opportunities to network and getting to know other companies and experts.

Tink Tank: What aspect of Tink Tank’s environment do you find the most beneficial for your work?

What I like the most about Tink Tank is being able to work in a live environment that is not at home, but also calm with professional facilities unlike a café or library, along with being surrounded by a nice community of people from all different walks of life.

Tink Tank: How do you think coworking spaces could reshape traditional workplace dynamics and relationships in the future?

Companies can greatly benefit from allowing their employees to join a co-working space. It provides a professional environment for clustered employees living in proximity to each other (but far from their office) to meet in person and collaborate and enables plenty opportunity for spontaneous exchange of ideas. It also provides ample opportunities for professional networking and project opportunities as well as cross-company collaborations.

Tink Tank: How do you see the future of coworking spaces evolving as remote work becomes the standard?

I see that as the world has transitioned to digital and remote working is the new norm. Traditional offices will be a thing of the past. As employees are geographically spread out, co-working offices with their ever-flexible arrangements will be the place to be for remote employees.
